RISD Degree Project 2022As part of my degree program, I undertook a research project exploring the diverse phenomena of fan culture and their impact on society. My goal was to develop a game that would allow players to experience the positive and negative aspects of fan culture in a lighthearted way, rather than lecturing them through traditional methods.
My research involved extensive literature reviews and interviews with fans across various industries, from music and movies to sports and video games. Through this process, I gained a deep understanding of the diverse motivations and experiences that drive fan culture, as well as the stereotypes and stigmas that often accompany it.
As a result of this research, I developed a game that allows players to immerse themselves in the world of fan culture and become any type of fan they desire, from the devoted follower to the opportunistic groupie. Through the game's various challenges and objectives, players gain insight into the realities of fan culture, both positive and negative.
