Knoll Workplace Research Library is a sub-brand for Knoll, the goal for this project is to create a whole set of brand identity for KWRL including logo, animation, poster series, style guide, etc.
Starting off by extracting keywords from Knoll’s concept: workspace, Spatial, Flexible, Simultaneity, Open & close; the logo was inspired by a corner of a book and a corner of a workspace. The construction of our logo can be viewed as both convex and concave, which responded to keywords from Knoll. The flexibility of the logo allows it to generate more variations that can be used in different applications.
The poster series was designed based on Knoll’s research paper: Generation by Knoll: Idea and Concept. The paper introduced the ‘Generation chair’ designed by knoll and concepts behind it. It further analyzed the relationship between movements and workspace: workspace is changing human behavior, human behavior is also changing the workspace. Inspired by this interesting concept, I generated three posters that give freedom to human movements. Unlike traditional posters that stuck audiences in one position for viewing, this series encouraged audiences to walk around the space to explore different perspectives for reading.
